Geothermal Energy

Below our feet, we find the largest energy source world wide – so far it was usable at a large technological scale only at specifically favourable locations – DEEP GEOTHERMAL POWER. The origin of geothermal power dates back to the formation of the earth and is produced continuously by decay of natural radioactive elements, by friction forces resulting from tectonic events and the interaction of earth and moon.

Geothermal energy is stored in the bedrock and in Groundwater. It can be used for the production of Electrical energy as well as for heating. 99% of the earth interior exhibits temperatures higher than 1'000 °C, another 0,9 % of more than 100 °C.
